News; LaCoste searching for interim chief

LaCoste City Manager George Salzmann is conducting background checks on contenders for the job of interim police chief, which the city council Monday directed him to fill as soon as possible.

Leaders of the Jewish community told the newspaper they are cooperating with police and cautioning their members to be extra vigilant after the incident, which occurred on the second night of Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year. Yom Kippur, the Jewish Day of Atonement, will occur this weekend.
